This is a Yamaha FR23 Active Sedan that was newly built, launched, and registered in Japan in April Heisei 30 (2018). Until the current owner purchased it last year, it had only been used for about 20 hours and was kept on display within a marina in the Chubu region, where it was treated almost like a showboat. As a result, it shows very little wear or scratches, and I believe it’s in quite good condition considering its age. Additionally, since the current owner purchased it last year, they have installed an i-Pilot, added a lithium-ion battery for the air conditioner, and fitted a rear awning and rear handrails.(The air conditioner unit itself is reportedly a genuine Yamaha marine air conditioner that was already installed as an option when the boat was new.) The marine air conditioner is particularly noteworthy. Since it is equipped with two high-capacity lithium-ion batteries, it can reportedly operate for over 16 hours on a single charge without needing to be connected to shore power. Furthermore, since the roof and the top surface of the rear awning are almost entirely covered with solar panels, the operating time reportedly increases even further under the blazing sun. The marine air conditioner is also said to be highly effective not only in the summer but also as a heater in the winter, keeping the cabin warm and comfortable even during the colder months. In fact, during our visit—when it was a scorching midsummer day—the cabin was quite cool, and we didn’t feel the heat at all. According to the owner, if you leave the air conditioner running continuously, it’s so effective that it can even feel a bit cold during summer afternoons. Since it can run for such long periods, you can comfortably stay at the marina all night long, even on sweltering summer nights. The owner reportedly set up the battery system around the end of last year. Since then, he has visited the boat frequently and used both the heating and cooling systems to their fullest, yet he says the system has been operating without a single issue—solely powered by the solar panels—without ever needing to connect to shore power or other charging sources. The main lead-acid battery is used exclusively for starting the engine. In addition to the standard charging method via the boat’s alternator, it is also connected to the lithium-ion battery. The system is designed so that if the capacity of the lead-acid battery for engine starting ever becomes insufficient, power is supplied from the lithium-ion battery to the lead-acid battery, ensuring that a situation where the engine fails to start due to low battery power will not occur. (The boat is equipped with a high-grade Renogy on-the-go charger, which appears to charge both the lead-acid battery for engine starting and the lithium-ion battery while the boat is underway.) Since all of the batteries were installed less than a year ago, this provides a sense of security. As an additional high-end feature, the boat is also equipped with the new iPilot. The owner reportedly purchased this iPilot around November of last year, but the unit initially delivered had a defect and was subsequently replaced with a brand-new one. Consequently, the owner reportedly didn’t actually start using it until around March of this year, so it has hardly been used at all. Even just the air conditioning system and the iPilot alone would cost a significant amount if added later, so this boat comes highly recommended for owners who consider these features essential. This boat is currently moored and stored at a marina in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. For those planning to keep their boat at the same marina, we’ll also include a hull cover.(We believe it would be difficult to move it to another marina.)
